Where the Beauty Resides is an installation that seeks to question and expand traditional notions of beauty, proposing a more attentive, subjective, and sensitive way of seeing the world around us.
The project is anchored in a living concept that evolves from the context of the artistic residency, personal experience, and everyday observation. The work emerges from a desire to investigate what we consider beautiful and how these parameters are shaped, challenged, and transformed over time.
It begins from the conviction that beauty is not an absolute value, but a symbolic construction that reflects our emotions, references, and experiences.
During the residency, the creative process was an open one, in which the central object of the installation would be chosen and shaped according to the surroundings, the materials available and the dialogue established with the space based on elements inspired by the name ‘Gender Roots’.
In Where the Beauty Resides, beauty also inhabits the imperfect, the worn, the abandoned, the death. It is an exploration of value, time, memory, and matter.
The proposal reaffirms that beauty is not universal but manifests itself in our ability to recognize the singular. What was once disregarded gains new meaning, inviting the audience to rethink their own perceptions and to discover, at last, where beauty truly resides.
